William O. Skaggs' Obituary
William O. “Bill” Skaggs, age 77, passed away on March 21, 2026, at Aurora Medical Center.
Bill was born in Racine on April 21, 1948, to the late Hassel and Anna “Louise” Skaggs. He was a proud graduate of Horlick High School and went on to serve his country honorably in the United States Army during the Vietnam War. Bill was a life member of V.F.W. Post 10301.
Following his military service, Bill dedicated 35 years of hard work to S.C. Johnson, where he built a lasting career before retiring in 2005. On August 17, 1974, he was united in marriage to the love of his life, Susan “Sue” Stogny, with whom he shared 51 wonderful years.
Bill had a passion for working with his hands and was truly a “jack of all trades” who could fix just about anything. He especially enjoyed building and restoring his 1955 Chevy, attending classic car shows, riding his Harley, and collecting and restoring vintage gas pumps. He was happiest in his garage, always tinkering and fixing things.
He was well known for his Saturday “Garage Gatherings” and for hosting annual pig roasts for the Johnson gang, bringing friends and family together with laughter and good food. Bill also cherished time spent with his family—watching his grandchildren swim and play, relaxing at his place up north, and enjoying winters in Florida.
Bill will be dearly missed by his loving wife, Susan; his children, Ryan (Amanda) of Waukesha and Kelly Skaggs of Sturtevant; his beloved grandchildren, Annalee and Addison; his siblings: Brenda (Edward) Vite of Kenosha, Corrine (the late Steven) Etchison of Racine, Mary J. Skaggs of Racine, and Robert (Margaret) of Milwaukee; his brother-in-law and sister-in-law, John and Nancy Stogny of Minnesota; as well as many nieces, nephews, cousins, and Aunt Jackie.
He was preceded in death by his parents and his brother, Randall “Joe” Skaggs.
In accordance with Bill’s wishes, cremation will take place and no formal services will be held.
Memorial donations may be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, P.O. Box 50, Memphis, TN 38101.
