My Dad was the spark in the room. Always ready to mingle and talk about nothing. His special gift was his ability to make everyone around him feel comfortable and content. He set out to love everyone. With his passing we will all be forced to be the person who helps manage the crowd. A gift from Scotty. I love him so much and cherish the hours we spent together while he introduced me to nature through his various hobbies. Dad would point to a rock in fascination and tell you what type it was, how old it was, what it was used for, etc.. the whole time I would think 'It's a rock.'(while loving him for his excitement). He wanted nothing more than to share his passions for the things he thought were interesting. A true teacher he was! I learned so much from him about all of his favorite things/people/subjects/hobbies.. what he taught me indirectly is how to treat and cherish the people who make life special- a place where everyone is invited. He informed who I am, how I act, and who I'll become which I am proud of and excited for. I wasn't sure if it was customary for a family member to comment on a public obituary, but this has been so helpful to me in wanting to shout to the world about how great of a person my Dad was. I know he touched a lot of people and he deserves a big shout-out. With Love, Joseph.
