RIP Buck! We had such great times through our years at McKinleyJunior High and Washington Park High and beyond. Phil was our driver at my wedding with his big black Oldsmobile. That is Phil to the left in the photo back in August of 1971. Great guy and even though we did not see a lot of each other in later years ( he was in Texas for a few years wth his son) he was still a good friend. We had some pizza at Bernie’s not too long ago and we had stopped by his house to visit on Kearney Ave. a few times. Another friend ( a real charmer) from Class of 68’ gone to a better life.
Lots of memories from Jr. high, high school and later. We lived a block away. Here’s a few:
Memory 1. Jammin’ in my living room on his baby blue six string with me on the Hammond. 2. We did a tune for the Park High talent show, and I think a few other occasions.
3. When it was cold out, he wore a hunters orange hat complete with ear flaps and fuzzy visor. Watching him play that blue six string inspired my younger brother to learn to play the guitar. I believe his dad called him Phil-a-buck, hence the nickname, but I could be wrong.
