Margaret "Peggy" Mae Rendall's Obituary
Margaret Mae Rendall "Peggy", age 93, passed away peacefully on February 21, 2017
Peggy was born in Racine, WI on December 6, 1923 to William and Jessie (nee Seater) Rendall, the 8th of 10 children. She received her Bachelor’s Degree from UW-Madison and was recognized with a trophy for Most Athletic Girl while a student. Her career as a research chemist at Johnson's Wax spanned 40 years, during which she developed the formula for Jubilee. The Johnson Choir and bowling leagues also tapped into her talents.
As a lifetime member of the 1st Presbyterian Church, Peggy sang in the choir and taught Sunday School. She shared the bounty of her harvests and her special batches of fudge with students and families. Peggy was very generous; a giver and a servant in countless ways throughout her life. Her passion for growing all different kinds of flowers and vegetables became legendary...the gardens on Braun road were traffic stoppers for many decades, and the orchard provided hand pressed cider and bushels of deliciousness to give to others. She was an enthusiastic, boisterous Badgers fan, loving to share her season tickets with family members blessed to spend a day in Madison at her side.
Peggy is survived by many nieces and nephews ("greats" and "great-greats"), other relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents and 9 siblings.
A celebration of Peggy’s life will be held at 1:30 p.m. on Saturday, April 1, 2017 at 1st Presbyterian Church (716 College Avenue) with Rev. Steve Fringer officiating. A time of visitation will be held from 11:00 a.m. until the time of the service. Interment will be held at West Lawn Memorial Park at the convenience of the family. Memorials may be made to 1st Presbyterian Church, Milwaukee Children's Hospital, Washington Park Scholarship Fund, and Press House. In lieu of flowers, Peggy’s wish was that we would plant flowers in our own front yards!
The family would like to extend a special Thank You to the Heartland Hospice staff for their excellent care.
"Love you forever, Aunt Peg; thank you for the amazing example of generosity, love, and grace."
