Lillian Marie Thomsen's Obituary
Racine-Lillian Marie Thomsen, 100, passed away peacefully with family by her side on Saturday, January 9, 2021.
Lillian was born to the late Joseph and Marie (nee Osimitz) Baumann on February 10, 1920, in Racine. She was united in marriage to Aage L. Thomsen on February 2, 1946, at Gethsemane Lutheran Church in Racine. They were married for 43 years until Aage’s passing in April of 1989.
Lillian was a faithful member of Gethsemane Lutheran Church and taught Sunday School there. She was involved in various bowling leagues for 50 years. Lillian and her husband were involved in couples’ card clubs over the years. Lillian was an excellent cook and seamstress. She enjoyed tending to her garden and watching the cardinals. During her life, Lillian enjoyed getting together with her neighbors for weekly coffee hour. Lillian loved to travel. She went on cruise to Alaska and a trip to Hawaii with her good friend, Charlotte Roshar. Above all, Lillian loved her family and enjoyed taking care of them.
Lillian will be lovingly remembered by her daughter, Janet Winter; son, Raymond Thomsen; three grandchildren: Jennifer Jarvis, Michael (April) Winter, and Bradley Winter; 7 great-grandchildren; brother, Gilbert (Jeanne) Baumann; along with many nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.
Lillian is predeceased by her husband, Aage; sister and brother-in-law, Violet and Edward Ernst; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law: Ezra (Ann Louise) Thomsen, Elmer (Betty) Thomsen, and Betty (Fred) Hedberg.
A Celebration of Lillian’s Life will be held at the Wilson Funeral Home on Friday, January 15, 2021, at 1:30 P.M. Family and friends are invited to a time of visitation at the funeral home on Friday from 12:30 P.M. until the time of service. Lillian will be reunited with her husband, Aage, at Graceland Cemetery. Due to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic, only 50 people will be allowed to enter the funeral home at a time. Guests may be required to wait outside until others leave the funeral home. Anyone planning on attending Lillian’s services will be required to wear a face covering/mask upon entering the funeral home along with following social distancing guidelines.
