Karen Ann Burmeister's Obituary
With heartfelt love and deep sorrow, we announce the peaceful passing of Karen Ann Burmeister (née Danielson), age 84, on July 29, 2025, at Parkview Gardens Memory Care, surrounded by the comfort of her loving family.
Born in Racine on May 31, 1941, Karen was the cherished daughter of the late Ever M. and Martha Jane (née Durden) Danielson. She was a proud graduate of Washington Park High School, Class of 1959, where she began forming the deep and lasting friendships that would follow her through life.
On November 12, 1966, Karen married the love of her life, Eugene Glenn Burmeister, in the warmth of his home. Their union was one of devotion and joy until Eugene's passing on February 14, 1993. Karen continued to honor his memory with enduring love and grace.
She dedicated 26 years of service to the United States Postal Service as a clerk, retiring on May 31, 2005. Karen was admired for her reliability, warmth, and cheerful demeanor - always ready with a smile and a kind word for anyone she met.
A spirited and social soul, Karen was a proud member of the Red Hat Society, a group that brought her joy, laughter, and lasting friendships. She loved swimming at the YMCA and dancing freely, often described as someone who moved through life with joy.
Karen was the kind of person people were drawn to - easy to talk to, always smiling, and genuinely interested in the lives of others. But more than anything else, her greatest joy came from spending time with her family. She adored her grandchildren and relished every opportunity to be outdoors. The holidays were a special time for Karen - she brought magic and excitement into every celebration, finding pure delight in watching her grandchildren open gifts and basking in the season’s joy.
She leaves behind a family who will forever carry her love in their hearts: her children, Matthew (Kerry) Burmeister and Pamela Olle; her beloved grandchildren, Hailey Burmeister, Cameron (fiancée, Julia) Olle, and Cooper Bobinski; her inseparable twin sister, Carolyn (Tom) Flemming; her sisters-in-law, Dolores Woods, Amy Burmeister, and Helene Burmeister; her brother-in-law, Danny (Annette) Burmeister; and many cherished nieces, nephews, extended family, and dear friends. Karen’s faithful feline companion, Buddy, also held a special place in her heart.
She is now reunited in eternal peace with her husband, Eugene; her parents, Ever and Martha; her in-laws, Glenn and Evelyn Burmeister; her siblings: Charlotte (Louis) Tullgren, twin brothers, Roland (LaVerne) Woods and Roy Woods; and her brothers-in-law: Bob (Patricia), Dale, Greg, and Phil (Nadine) Burmeister; and her sister-in-law, Donna Burmeister.
A memorial celebration of life will be held on Thursday, August 21, 2025, at Wilson Funeral Home. The visitation begins at 5:00 p.m. until the ceremony at 7:00 p.m., officiated by her brother-in-law, Deacon Danny Burmeister. A private committal and inurnment will be held at Pilgrims Home Cemetery in the village of Raymond.
