Erika Anna Sollmann's Obituary
Erika Anna Sollmann, age 98, passed away peacefully, leaving behind a legacy of resilience, devotion, and exceptional craftsmanship.
She was born on October 24, 1927, in Eichensee, Germany, to Gustav and Anna (née Pietrzik) Sollmann. In 1965, she and her family settled in Milwaukee County area.
A gifted seamstress, Erika shared her talent for many years with Jack Winter, Inc., where her skill and precision were widely admired. After retirement, she continued to create beautiful clothing for her family and friends, always taking pride in the care she put into every stitch.
She enjoyed being a member of the Rheinischer Verein, where she frequently volunteered as a cashier and found joy in staying connected to her German heritage. Erika was also highly interested in politics and remained engaged and informed throughout her life.
Erika was a remarkable cook and baker, known for preparing treasured German dishes such as red cabbage, pork roast, rouladen, and her signature cheesecake. Above all, family was most important to her, especially her granddaughter. Together they shared cherished routines, including their favorite soap operas, Days of Our Lives and Passions, as well as many warm laughs watching The Golden Girls.
Erika will be lovingly remembered by her granddaughter, Kathryn Oleson; her sister, Eva Hueppe; many nieces, one nephew, other relatives, and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents; her son, Klaus Dieter; and her sister, Ruth Schweigert.
Honoring her wishes, Erika will be cremated and privately inurned at Wisconsin Memorial Park.
The family extends heartfelt thanks to the staff at The Villa of Greenfield and St. Croix Hospice for their kind and compassionate care.
