Erika was my mother-in-law but I knew her even before I married her son, Klaus-Dieter. She was a long-time member of the Rheinischer-Verein that my parents were also members of.
She was a very classy, independent woman. But the best memories are of when she became "Omi" to my daughter, Kathryn. The love in her eyes when she held Kathryn as a baby was so strong. She sewed dresses for her, babysat for her, and did all the things that a Omi does for her granddaughter. She was much loved by her her son, me and my daughter, Kathryn.
I will miss Erika very much, but now know that she's at peace and with her son, Klaus-Dieter. Rest in your heavenly home, Mutti.
