Elmer Krogh's Obituary
Union Grove – Mr. Elmer Otto Krogh, 97, passed away at Dolphin Manor on Tuesday, October 22, 2013.
Elmer was born in Racine to the late Nels and Sadie (nee Hansen) Krogh on April 26, 1916. He attended Washington Park High School until he was sent to work with the Civilian Conservation Corps Camp during the Great Depression. On October 19, 1942, Elmer enlisted into the United States Army Air Corps as an Aircraft Engine Technician. He served during World War II in Guam working on B-29's. Elmer was honorably discharged on January 6, 1946.
In Racine, Elmer was united in marriage to Kathleen Osius on August 26, 1943 and lived in Racine for most of his life. He was employed at Young Radiator retiring in 1978 at the age of 62. After his retirement he volunteered much of his time to Habitat for Humanity. Elmer was a member of Grace Lutheran Church and faithfully worked as the landscaper for the church. Elmer enjoyed fishing near Boulder Junction, Canada and on the Mississippi River with friends.
Elmer is survived by his son, Paul (Mary Beth) Krogh; daughter, Susan McCroskey; grandchildren, Carolyn (George) Nellesson and Jennifer (Kenton) Powell; great grandchildren, Ruby and Annabelle Powell; brother, Stanley (Rita) Krogh; three sisters-in-law; and nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his wife, Kathleen on April 12, 1998 and five brothers and five sisters.
Visitation will be held at Grace Lutheran Church, 3700 Washington Avenue, on Saturday, October 26, 2013 from 10:00 AM until the time of service at 12:00 noon with Pastor Randall Poppe officiating. Private interment with full military honors will be held at Calvary Cemetery. Memorials may be directed to Habitat for Humanity. Condolences may be made at www.wilsonfuneralhomeracine.com.
