Carole Elizabeth Miesel's Obituary
Racine – Carole Elizabeth Miesel, 80, went home to be with her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ on Friday, April 18, 2014.
Carole was born on August 8, 1933 in Indianapolis, Indiana to William Andrew and Minnie Leona (nee: Englert) Miesel. Mr. William Miesel passed away when Carole was young and Mrs. Minnie Miesel remarried on June 2, 1945 to Joseph C. Schmidt. Carole became visually impaired at the age of six with only 2% vision remaining. She was an incredible person. She learned Braille and persevered her entire life, never letting her disability stop her from living a full, productive life. As a Christian, Jesus Christ was truly Carole’s strength. She lived out the Bible verse found in Philippians 4:13, “I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me.”
Carole graduated from Janesville School for the Blind. She earned a Bachelor of Arts Degree at Bryan University in Tennessee and UW - Whitewater. She received her Master’s in Teaching and Rehabilitation at University of Northern Colorado. She went on to work as Rehabilitation Program Supervisor for the Visually Impaired for the State of Colorado. Carole attended Galilee Baptist Church in Denver, Colorado before moving back to Racine. Then she attended Racine Bible Church. She had a beautiful voice and sang at numerous weddings and other events.
Carole is survived by her brother, Reverend John (Janice) Miesel, sister, Kae,(Ard) Kiehlbauch, nieces; Brenda (Robert) Pfeil, Heidi (Jacob) Daub, nephews; Bryan (Carrie) Miesel, and John Kiehlbauch,
Grand-nieces and nephews; Kristie, Katie (Daniel), Taylor (Jamie), Connor, Arianne, Amara, Laiken, Levi and Charlotte. She is further survived by special friends, Ted (Shirley) Kingsmith and their family, Bertha Vogt, Kathy Paradowski, other relatives and numerous friends. Carole was preceded in death by her parents and Step-father, also by one brother, Kenneth Dale Miesel.
Funeral services will be held at Racine Bible Church, 12505 Spring Street in Sturtevant on Saturday, May 3, 2014 at 10:00 AM with her brother, Pastor John Meisel officiating. Committal services will follow at West Lawn Memorial Park chapel. Relatives and friends may meet with the family from 9:00 AM until 10:00 AM.
