Alma L. Hedland's Obituary
Alma L. Hedland
MT. PLEASANT – Alma L. Hedland, age 93, entered the gates with thanksgiving on Monday, December 29, 2014.
Alma was born to the late Gilbert and Mathea (Ganderson) Lee on November 28, 1922 in Gary, Minnesota. She was later united in marriage to Harry Hedland in Faith, South Dakota in 1949.
Alma was a member of Racine Assembly of God for many years. Her church and her church family were the love of her life. She held many Bible studies at her home and loved the women who came. A missionary as well, she traveled to several countries including India. Alma loved to travel, taking cruises with her son and going on trips with her friends. Once when she was a child, Alma had the opportunity to casually walk and talk with president Franklin Delano Roosevelt. She took care of her aids’ souls as her aids took care of her.
Surviving are one son: Jim Hedland; one daughter: Joanne Baek; and many friends and loved ones too numerous to name.
Alma is preceded in death by her husband: Harry Hedland.
A funeral service will be held at Racine Assembly of God at 10:30 AM on Saturday, January 3, 2015. Relatives and friends may visit from 9:00 AM until the time of the service. Memorials may be directed to Dick Geiss, who will in turn distribute them to the missions.
Alma would like to give special thanks to her caregivers, Kim Stier, Sarah Adrian, Deanita Salvidar, Georgette Redford, Pam Johnson, Karmel Cardenas, Amy Dehne, Donna Webb, Sara Jerry, Rebecca Hill, Jen Ruff, Rheannah Morales, Dick Geiss and many more.
