Alan Robert Shucard's Obituary
Alan Robert Shucard, age 82, passed away on Tuesday, January 16, 2018, in Racine, WI.
Alan was born to Jack and Dorothy (nee: Weber) Shucard on December 2, 1935, in Brooklyn, New York. He was united in marriage to Maureen O’Higgins in June of 1962 and were married for 37 years. His wife, Maureen, passed in March of 2000. Alan was an English professor at the University of Wisconsin-Parkside for a number of years.
Alan was a distinguished teacher and published books of poetry and literary criticism. Alan cherished his family and he will be dearly missed.
Left to cherish Alan’s memory is his daughter, Sarah Wilson (nee: Shucard); brother, Stephen (Sharon) Shucard; step-sister, Susan Hensel; grandchildren: Jessica Scheck and Rebecca, Scott, and Nicholas Wilson; nieces: Deborah Calvert and Jennifer Simmons; as well as many great-grandchildren and many other relatives and friends.
Alan is preceded in death by his wife, Maureen Shucard; his parents, Jack and Dorothy Shucard; and his step-mother, Lillian Shucard.
A celebration of Alan’s life will be held on Monday, January 22, 2018, at 1:00 p.m. at Wilson Funeral Home (1212 Lathrop Ave.). There will be a time of visitation from noon until the time of the service. Online condolences can be made out at www.wilsonfuneralhomeinc.com.
