William Raymond Thery's Obituary
William Raymond Thery, 87, passed away peacefully at his home on September 6, 2016.
William was born in Racine to Frank and Emma (nee: Creutzburg) Thery on May 31, 1929. He was united in marriage to Sally Ann Lipp at St. Rose Catholic Church in Racine on November 3, 1951.
William was employed by several local businesses over the years. As a highly intelligent man, with a knack for the mechanics of things and an entrepreneurial spirit, he eventually founded a precision machine shop, T & K Specialty Products in 1967. He retired as president of the company in 2005. William appreciated engineering and was a member of the Society of Manufacturing Engineers (SME). He was a member and past Commodore of the 5th Street Yacht Club. He was an avid outdoorsman enjoying hunting, fishing and boating. William raced cars on dirt tracks when he was young and loved to watch NASCAR.
William will be dearly missed by his sons, William Jr. “Skip”, Tim (Karen), Steve (Missy) Thery; his daughter, Denise Knudsen; grandsons, Joshua (Sara) Cronin and Nicholas Cronin; great-granddaughters, Paige and Aubrey Cronin; sister, Betty Murphy; two brothers-in-law and two sisters-in-law, Michael (Carol) Lipp, Elmer Jones, Diane Lipp; and nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
William was preceded in death by his wife, Sally; parents, Francis “Frank” Thery and Emma (Ross) Lance; two sisters and three brothers-in-law, Lorraine Jones, Barbara (Jerry) Kaskowski, Bud Murphy and Dr. Edmond Lipp Jr.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at St. Richard of Chichester, 1503 Grand Avenue, on Tuesday, September 13, 2016 at 10:30 AM with Father Allen Bratkowski celebrating. Entombment will follow at Calvary Cemetery. Relatives and friends may meet with the family on Monday evening, September 12, 2016 from 6:00 PM until 8:00 PM and at the church on Tuesday morning from 9:30 AM until 10:30 AM.
