William F. Sliker's Obituary
William F. Sliker, age 76, of Midway AR and formerly of Racine, WI, passed away at St. Vincent Infirmary in Little Rock, AR on October 14, 2016.
William was born in Racine, WI on October 2, 1940 to the late William and Evelyn (Gilbertson) Sliker, Sr.
William proudly served his country in the U.S. Air Force for four years. After his service he became a firefighter for the City of Racine for 30 years. He retired from Station No. 9. Bill was co-owner of Belle City Fire Extinguishers. He was a member of both the city and state Retired Firefighters Associations. He also worked at Nelson Welding and American Motors during his career. Bill’s hobbies were fishing, hunting, bowling, and camping. Bill was an avid Packer fan and had a collection of Packer hats and clothing that he wore with pride.
William was married to Lorraine Loppnow Keeran on October 6, 1990. They spent 26 happy years together.
William is survived by his wife, Lorraine; son, William (Sharon) Sliker, Jr.; daughter, Sandra (Tom) Madison, stepdaughters; Mary (Dale) Fick, Nancy (Curtis) DeHart, grandchildren: Bailee, Joshua, Joseph, Jennifer, Jessica, Jacqueline, Rachel, and Shane; 9 great grandchildren; sister, Sue (Randall) Logan, and many other relatives and friends.
William was preceded in death by his parents; his brother, Chuck Sliker; sisters: Janet Gemmell and Mary Schmidt; son, Louis Sliker. A celebration of William’s life will be held on Friday, October 21, 2016 at Wilson Funeral Home at 1:00 p.m. with Rev. George Kafer officiating. Family and friends are invited to meet at the Wilson Funeral Home from 11:00 a.m. until the time of service. Interment will take place at West Lawn Memorial Park with full military honors.
