William Olson's Obituary
Racine - Mr. William Olson, 94, passed away at Wheaton Franciscan Healthcare on Thursday, June 7, 2007.
William Olson was born in Stoughton on August 6, 1912 to the late Ingar and Astrid (nee: Gabrielson) Olson. He had lived in Racine for most of his life. In Racine, at the First Presbyterian Church, he was united in marriage to Helen Filipi on August 6, 1947.
Mr. Olson served in the United States Army in London, England during World War II. He was employed by J.I. Case for 47 years, retiring at age 65 in 1977. Mr. Olson was a member of First Presbyterian Church where he served as a Deacon and an Elder. He was a member of the Sons of Norway, Tuesday Optimist Club and volunteered for Toys for Tots and Salmon-a-Rama. Most importantly, he was a family man and loved his family.
William is survived by his wife of 59 years, Helen; two daughters and one son-in-law, Wendy (Olson) Killberg of Racine and Cheryl (Olson) and John Bailey of Madison; four grandchildren, Benjamin William Killberg of Astoria, New York, Katherine C. Killberg and her husband Stephen Rahaim of Cambodia, Anna B. and Nel L. Bailey of Madison; two sisters-in-law, Harriet Olson of Kenosha and Irene Olson of Racine; one brother-in-law, Francis Toutant of Racine. He was preceded in death by two brothers, Olaf and Harvey Olson; and two sisters, Alice Andersen Grimmer and Helen Toutant.
A memorial service will be held at the First Presbyterian Church, 716 College Ave., on Wednesday, June 13, 2007 at 3 pm with Rev. Steven C. Fringer officiating. Private inurnment will be held at West Lawn Memorial Park. Relatives and friends may meet with the family at the church from 2 pm until service time. Memorials to First Presbyterian Church have been suggested.
