William L. Mattice's Obituary
Racine – William Loraine Mattice, 86, passed away comfortably at the Grand Prairie Nursing Home in Pleasant Prairie on Wednesday, January 21, 2015.
Bill was born in Harbor Beach, Michigan to the late William J. and Mildred A. (nee: Dane) Mattice on March 27, 1928. In Harbor Beach, he was united in marriage to Audrey L. Hiller on April 12, 1949. They moved to Racine in 1950.
Bill was a at truck driver for many years working for C & W Transport Company retiring in 1988. He was an active member of the Teamsters Local 43 and Local 200. He was also a member of the Eagles Club for over 20 years. He enjoyed NASCAR races, the Green Bay Packers and antique car shows. But, Bill’s family was most important to him. He especially loved being an avid supporter of his grandson’s, Ron III, football career and being a father figure to his great grandson, Anthony.
Bill will be dearly missed by his wife of 65 years, Audrey; children, Lois (Jim) Beaulieu, Lorraine (Richard) Beaulieu, Dennis Mattice, William P. Mattice and Betty (Ronald) Hewitt Jr.; 15 grandchildren; 29 great grandchildren; four great-great grandchildren; and other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his brother, Wayne (Kay) Mattice.
Funeral services in honor of Bill will be held at the Wilson Funeral Home on Monday, January 26, 2015 at 11:00 AM. Interment will follow at West Lawn Memorial Park.
