William Charles Brown's Obituary
Racine – William C. Brown, 94, went home to be with his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ peacefully with family at his side on September 11, 2022.
William was born in Racine to the late Jesse and Gladys (nee Eggert) on January 16, 1928. He graduated from Washington Park High School, class of 1946. He served in the United States Navy for two years until 1948. After his military service, William went to college at Illinois Institute of Technology and graduated in 1952. On May 3, of the same year, he was united in marriage to Ruth E. Gregory at First Baptist Church in Racine. William was employed as an electrical engineer with WE Energies, formerly known as Wisconsin Electric. He retired after 36 years.
William, along with his wife, were active members of Calvary Memorial Church. He was a faithful usher for many years. They enjoyed traveling, especially to Door County in both Spring and Autumn. Since William was a young boy, he appreciated visiting his parents’ house on Lake Delavan. He loved to go sailing. He also enjoyed gardening, watching the birds, and certainly, his sweets.
William will be dearly missed by his son, Michael (Jeanne) Brown; three grandchildren: Blake (Valerie) Brown, Morgan (Landon) Kortendick, and Bryce Brown; great grandson, Colt Kortendick; nieces: Lynn (John) Sinclair, Nancy (Don) Gaulke, and Sue McCabe; many friends and neighbors. William was preceded in death by his sister, Dorothy (Harold) McCabe; and niece, JoAnn Schwartz.
A celebration of William’s life will be held at Calvary Memorial Church, 4001 Washington Avenue, on Saturday, September 17, 2022, beginning with a visitation at 9:30 AM and a ceremony starting at 10:30 AM. Pastor Ralph Wingate will be officiating. Committal service and interment will follow at West Lawn Memorial Park. Memorials may be directed to Calvary Memorial Church.
