Wayne Hammer's Obituary
Racine - Mr. Wayne Charles Hammer, 67, passed away at Wheaton Franciscan Healthcare - All Saints on Tuesday morning, March 13, 2007.
Wayne was born in Racine to Charles and Catherine (nee: McGee) Hammer on June 29, 1939. He had lived in Racine his whole life. In Racine, he was united in marriage to Camille Helminiak at St. Edward's Catholic Church on November 27, 1978.
Wayne was baptized in St. Patrick's Catholic Church. He was a graduate from St. Catherine's High School. He was a member of St. Edward's Catholic Church. Mr. Hammer was employed by Young Radiator for 10 years and then worked for JI Case for 27 years until 1999. He was a member of the JI Case 20 Year Club. Wayne enjoyed model racecars, dogs, and tropical fish and frogs.
Wayne is survived by his wife of 28 years, Camille; three children, Lorie (David) Recupero, Greg (Helen) Hammer, and Jennifer Hammer and her fianc? Sergio Macias all of Racine; three grandchildren, Cody, Kyle, and Kayla; and a 4th grandchild on the way due in April; one sister, Diane (John) Lapetina; his mother-in-law and father-in-law, Arthur and Marion Helminiak; and two brothers-in-law and two sisters-in-law, Mark (Elaine) Helminiak and Paul (Cheryl) Helminiak. Nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends also survive. He was preceded in death by his parents and one son.
Funeral services will be held at the Wilson Funeral Home on Sunday, March 18, 2007 at 4 pm with Rev. Nathan James and Fr. Allen Bratkowski co-officiating. Interment will be held at Calvary Cemetery on Monday afternoon, March 19, 2007 at 1:30 pm. Relatives and friends may meet with the family at the funeral home on Sunday afternoon from 2 until 4pm.
