Wayne Lee Borgen's Obituary
Wayne Lee Borgen, 84, of Fort Wayne, IN (formerly of Racine, WI) passed away March 24, 2025, at Ashton Creek Center in Fort Wayne.
Born in Fifield, Wisconsin, on June 24, 1940, Wayne was the son of the late Walter and Pearl (née Lee) Borgen. He grew up in Racine and was a 1958 graduate of Park High School. From 1963 to 1965, he honorably served his country as military police in the United States Army.
Wayne had a lifelong passion for cars. He worked in the automotive industry, enjoyed attending car shows and swap meets, and collected car parts. His greatest pride was his 1956 Plymouth Fury. He was also an avid bowler, finding joy in the competition of the sport.
In the mid-1980s, Wayne relocated to Fort Wayne, Indiana, when his job at Dana Corporation moved there. Despite the distance, he remained a cherished member of his family and a fond uncle to all his nieces and nephews.
Wayne will be deeply missed by his brother, Don (Bonnie) Borgen; brother-in-law, Joe Myer; nieces and nephews: Annette (Chuck) Rule, Cheryl Davey, Allen (Theresa) Myer, Don (Lynn) Borgen, Ken Myer, Cindi (Tom) Freeman, Jill (Jeff) Kroll, Jon Borgen, and Jeff (Cindy) Borgen; along with many grand and great nieces and nephews.
Wayne was preceded in death by his sister, Shirley Myer; grandnephews: Leonard Nelson and Michael Myer; and Linda Myer, wife of Ken Myer.
A celebration of Wayne’s life will be held at Wilson Funeral Home on Friday, April 11, 2025, at 12:00 PM with Chaplain Terry Peterson officiating. Relatives and friends may meet with the family at the funeral home on Friday from 10:00 AM until the time of service. Interment with full military honors will follow at West Lawn Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers, please make donations to your local humane society.
