Walter "Wally" Edward Garbisch's Obituary
Waterford-Walter “Wally” Edward Garbisch, 90, passed away with his family by his side on Friday, May 7, 2021.
Wally was born to the late Edward and Gladys (nee Klug) Garbisch on April 5, 1931, in Gooseville, WI. He was united in marriage to Margaret “Maggie” Potter on October 22, 1976, at Gethsemane Lutheran Church in Brookfield, WI.
Wally attended and graduated from Plymouth High School. After graduation, he enlisted in the United States Air Force and served in the Korean War. Wally served his country for seven years. After the Air Force, he worked for Greyhound Bus Line. Wally worked for Greyhound Bus Line for 30 years. He drove 200 million miles without any accidents. He retired from Greyhound Bus Line in 1986. He was an entrepreneur and worked as an insurance agent for a short period of time. Wally was a member of Toast Master International, proud member of Norway Evangelical Lutheran Church in Wind Lake, WI, and the Greyhounds Retreads. He was a Mark Twain impersonator for numerous events and performances. Wally enjoyed motorcycling and invented a motorcycle helmet, which has a patent on it. He was also known as being a dog lover. Wally was a kind and generous soul, a friend to everyone, and loved his family with all his heart.
Wally will be deeply missed by his loving wife, Margaret; children: Kathryn Williams and Nancy (David) Arasmith; grandchildren: Travis (Melanie) Williams, Dustin Williams, and Samantha (Chris) Rowe; great-grandchildren: Leah Williams, Gabriel Munoz, Delilah Munoz, Chance Rowe, Alexis Bautista-Lugo, Julianna Blosser, Bailey Blosser, and Willow Peterson; cousins: Mary Jean Klug and Carol Taylor; dogs: Tuffy and Teddy; along with many other relatives and friends.
Wally is predeceased by his father-in-law and mother-in-law, Dean and Geraldine Potter.
A Celebration of Wally’s life will be held at Norway Evangelical Lutheran Church on Wednesday, May 12, 2021, at 11:00 A.M. with Pastor Mark Jaramillo officiating. Family and friends are invited to a time of visitation at the church on Wednesday from 9:00 A.M. until the time of service. A service of committal and interment with full military honors will be held at Forest Hill Memorial Park at 12:00 P.M. on Thursday, May 13, 2021. Memorials in Wally’s name may be directed to the Parkinson’s Association (16655 W Bluemound Rd, Brookfield, WI 53005) and/or Norway Evangelical Lutheran Church (6321 Heg Park Rd, Wind Lake, WI 53185).
