Steven Nemeth's Obituary
Racine – Steven J. Nemeth passed away at Wheaton Franciscan Healthcare – All Saints on Friday, December 28, 2012 after a courageous battle with cancer.
Steven Joseph Nemeth was born in Milwaukee to Victor and Marilyn (nee: Schmadl) Nemeth on July 11, 1960. He lived in Racine for most of his life. In Racine in his parents back yard, Steven was united in marriage to Jennifer L. Ogura on June 7, 1980 and had 32 great years together.
Steven graduated from Lutheran High School in 1978. He was employed by the State of Wisconsin since 1988, first at the University of Wisconsin – Parkside then became a Correctional Officer with the Racine Correctional Institution in Sturtevant until his retirement in 2011. Steven was an avid fisherman. He and Jenny traveled to the lakes of northern Wisconsin and looked forward to it every year. They also would vacation in Las Vegas annually. He enjoyed riding his Harley Davidson and most recently became a member of the Racine Hog Chapter.
Steven was a quiet guy with loads of generosity and warmth to give. He especially enjoyed his time with his grandchildren. He would walk the oldest grandson to school and share in the excitement of watching wrestling on television with him.
Steven will be dearly missed by his wife, Jenny; daughter, Ellyn Nemeth (D.J. Madisen); three grandchildren, Melieke Nemeth, David Madisen and Lilly Madisen; parents, Victor and Marilyn Nemeth; sister, Joylyn (Tony) Rehm; mother-in-law, Helen Bodnar; father-in-law, James (Liz) Ogura Sr.; one sister-in-law and two brothers-in-law, Julie (Paul) Chacon and James Ogura Jr.; special friends, John Joslin and Cheryl Henkel; nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
Memorial services will be held at the Wilson Funeral Home on Saturday, January 5, 2013 at 1 PM. Relatives and friends may meet with the family from 10 AM until 1 PM service time. Memorials may be directed to the American Cancer Society.
