Steven James Geib's Obituary
Formerly of Milwaukee - It is with deep sorrow that we announce the passing of Steve Geib, who departed this life on April 5, 2025, at the age of 69 in Port Charlotte, Florida after a courageous battle with cancer.
Steve was born on August 3, 1955, in Terre Haute, Indiana, to Jerome and Betty Geib. In 1973, Steve graduated from Hamilton High School in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, and soon after began his long and dedicated career with JCPenney Logistics in Milwaukee until his retirement in 2015. Steve was a hard-working, dedicated employee who was extremely proud of his 36 years of service to JCPenney.
On September 24, 1988, Steve married the love of his life, Marylou Jensen, after the two met while working at JCPenney. Steve and Marylou were inseparable partners in life, sharing a deep and enduring bond marked by laughter and loyalty. Their marriage was a true partnership, filled with devotion, shared dreams, and unwavering support for one another through every chapter of life.
Steve loved to tinker and find DIY projects around the house and yard. He was especially proud of remodeling the basement of his and Marylou's Oak Creek home, turning it into a beautiful and cozy gathering place for his family. In retirement, Steve and Marylou enjoyed the “glamping” lifestyle, purchasing an RV trailer and making River Bend RV resort in Watertown, Wisconsin their summer and fall get-away spot. Many special memories were made with his grandchildren at the resort waterpark, the annual 4th of July and Halloween celebrations, and around the campfire.
In recent years, Steve and Marylou traded Wisconsin winters for the sunshine of Florida, settling in Lake Suzy. Steve quickly embraced life in his new retirement community, where he made fast friends and found joy in the relaxed pace and warm weather. Always one to keep busy, he discovered a new hobby—restoring golf carts—which perfectly suited his love of tinkering. He never missed a chance to remind his family back in Wisconsin just how nice the weather was in Florida during the winter months. By his side through it all was Max, his loyal rescue dog, who brought him daily joy and comfort.
Steve is survived by his loving wife, Marylou; daughter Rachel (Nick) Burling; grandchildren Sydney and Owen Burling; sister, Kathy (Bill) Narlock; brother, Dick (Jennifer) Geib; along with nieces, nephews, and many friends.
Steve was preceded in death by his parents, Jeromoe and Betty Geib; brother, Thomas Geib; and maybe the actual love of his life, Sadie Rose, Steve’s beloved rescue dog.
A funeral service to celebrate Steve’s life will be held on Wednesday, April 16th at Living Faith Lutheran Church. Visitation will begin at 10:00 a.m., followed by the service at 12:00 p.m. All are welcome to attend.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Esophageal Cancer Research Columbia University Herbert Irving Comprehensive Cancer Center (check payable to "The Trustees of Columbia University" to Attn: Gift Systems, 622 West 113th Street, MC 4524, New York, NY 10025) in Steve’s honor.
