Shirley Witt's Obituary
Racine - Shirley Mae Witt, 78, passed away on Tuesday, July 29, 2008. She was born in Racine on March 27, 1930 to the late Lawrence and Gudrun (nee: Nielsen) Petersen. She was united in marriage to Laurence F. Witt, who survives her, on December. 23, 1985,
Shirley is further survived by her children, Paul L. (Virginia) Minneti, Philip M. Minneti, Gloria (Thomas) Howe, and Cynthia (Randy) Marshall and their father, Paul P. Minneti; grandchildren Kimberly (David) Valle, Philip (Jessica) Minneti, Joel Minneti, Melissa Minneti, Paul H Minneti; her great grandchildren; Ryan, Jacob, Stephanie, Justin and Quentin and sister, Lorraine Rasmussen. Also surviving are her stepchildren, Leonard (Betty) Witt, Judy Sukalski, Ronald (Bonnie) Witt, and Donald (Dale Orlowski) Witt; and by nine step-grandchildren; eight step-great-grandchildren; one step-great-great-grandchild; numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives, friends and 780 elephants. She was preceded in death by her brother, Lewis Petersen and grandniece, Heather O'Rourke.
Shirley was employed at Mamco Corporation for 36 years retiring as a supervisor on March 31, 1992 and was a member the Mamco Twenty Year Club. She was proud of her Danish heritage, enjoyed embroidering, travel, and made the best spaghetti and meatballs. She was a wonderful wife, devoted mother, cherished mother-in-law and a loving Nanny. She will be dearly missed by all who had the pleasure of knowing her.
Funeral services will be held at the Wilson Funeral Home, 1212 Lathrop Ave., on Monday, August 4, 2008 at 11 a.m. with Rev. Arthur Rader officiating. Interment will follow at West Lawn Memorial Park. Friends may meet with the family at the funeral home on Monday morning from 10 a.m. until the time of service.
The family would like to thank the staff at Becker Shoop for the care given to Shirley and also express our thank fullness to our sister Gloria whose devotion and love to our mother and our families is beyond measure.
