Samuel Avila's Obituary
Mr. Avila, 70, passed away on Thursday, November 29, 2007 in Kenosha. He was born in Los Angeles, TX on April 15, 1937 to the late Pablo and Teodocia (nee: Reyes) Avila. He moved to Wisconsin in 1951 and resided in Milwaukee for many years.
He was employed at J.I. Case Co for 22 years and an apartment manager for 25 years, retiring in October 2007. He attended Cristo Rey Church and was a member of St. John Kante's Catholic Church in Milwaukee. He was a musician all of his life, playing the accordion and singing with his twin brother, Manuel. He was involved in supporting benefits within the Midwest. He was a beloved father and grandfather.
He is survived by ten children, Maria (fianc?e-Robert) Mora, Janie (Arturo) Sanchez, Sylvia (Craig) Schanke, Paul (Rosalinda) Avila, Connie (Ruben) Galarza, Samuel (fianc? -Jennifer) Avila, Lydia (Albert) Garcia, Rey Pena, Diane (fianc?e- Pepe) Pena, Steve (Stacey) Pena; thirty-nine grandchildren, twenty-eight great-grandchildren; two brothers and sisters-in-law, Jesus (Maria) Avila, Manuel Avila; and four sisters and two brothers-in-law, Lorenza (Roberto) Riojas, Petra (Jesus) Hernandez, Delfina Garcia, and Francisca Garcia. He was preceded in death by one daughter, Vivian; one sister, Julia R. Avila; and three brothers, Juan, Thomas and Nino Avila.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at St. Patrick Catholic Church 1100 Erie St., at 10 a.m. Monday, Dec. 3, 2007 with Fr. Ricardo Martin officiating. Interment will follow at Calvary Cemetery. Friends may meet with the family at the Wilson Funeral Home 1212 Lathrop Ave., on Sunday evening, Dec. 2, 2007 from 5-8 pm, and at the church on Monday from 9 am. until the time of Mass.
