Ruth Lucille Kraning's Obituary
Racine- Mrs. Ruth L. (nee: Krohlow) Kraning, 95, passed away on Monday, November 14, 2011 at Becker-Shoop Center.
Ruth was born in Briarton on January 29, 1916 to the late Otto and Pauline Ida (nee: Neuman) Krohlow and was the youngest of four children. She was united in marriage to Henry Kraning on May 17, 1933 in the Lutheran Church rectory in Cicero. He preceded her in death on July 18, 1987.
Mrs. Kraning was employed at Grace Meany Shop for 20 years, until she retired at age 77. She was a life long member of Lutheran Church of the Redeemer. Her hobbies included knitting, sewing, yard work, and watching Packer and Brewer games. She belonged to the Paradise West senior league where she bowled on Mondays and Thursdays. She also worked out at Shannon's Fitness and enjoyed walking at Regency Mall. She used to play cards on Tuesdays at Mount Pleasant and Friday afternoons at Lakeview. She especially loved to dance, a tradition she continued even after Henry passed away.
Ruth will be dearly missed by her three children, Gloria (Bud) Gage, Gene Kraning, and Diane Wiltgen; son-in-law, Dan Hawes; ten grandchildren, Kathi (Pete) Villarreal, Sue (Pat) Garner, Sharon (Rim) Budde, Cyndi (Mark) Widman, Sara Hawes, Kelley (Jack) Kolbetanz, Casey (Jodie) Kraning, Kyle Wiltgen, Nick Wiltgen, and Joel Wiltgen; eight great-grandchildren, Nicole Edmonds, Katie (Rodney) Edie, Amy Garner, Jamie Garner, Daniel, David, Drew, and Ian Widman; and one great-great granddaughter, Matilda Edie. She was preceded in death by her daughter, Shirley Hawes; son-in-law Peter Vallner; sister, Lillian Mott; and brothers, Elmer and Leonard Krohlow.
Funeral services in honor of Ruth will be held at Wilson Funeral Home on Friday, November 18, 2011, at 11:00am with Rev. Sue Smith officiating. Relatives and friends may meet with the family from 9:00am until the time of service. Memorials in honor of Ruth may be directed to Lutheran Church of the Redeemer or to Lincoln Lutheran (Becker- Shoop).
