Ruth Highman's Obituary
Racine- Mrs. Ruth M. (nee: Pankow) Highman, 89, passed away at her residence on Wednesday, February 17, 2010.
Ruth was born in Merrill to the late Arthur and Helena (nee: Huven) Pankow on February 8, 1921 and lived in Racine for over 68 years. She was united in marriage to Arthur Highman in 1940. Ruth was employed at Don's Food Mart for many years and was a member of St. Lucy's Catholic Church. She enjoyed spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren and loved knitting, crocheting, and playing cards.
Ruth is survived by her son, Allen Highman, daughter, Connie (Dave) Mickelsen; four grandchildren, Cathy Weiss, Kim (Don) Krause, Amy (Mark) Gehl, Dan (Jackie) Mickelsen; five great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her loving husband, Arthur; daughter, Kathy; daughter-in-law, Dottie; her brothers Donald, Kyrle, and Wayne Pankow, and her sister, Shirley DeRosa.
Funeral Services for Ruth will be held on Sunday, February 21, 2010 at the Wilson Funeral Home at 6:00pm with Deacon Dan Burmeister officiating. Relatives and friends may meet the family at the funeral home on Sunday from 4:00pm until service time and on Monday from 10-11pm with interment at West Lawn Memorial Park to follow. Memorials may be directed to Meals on Wheels.
