Ruth Cerny's Obituary
Kingsport, TN, formerly of Racine - Mrs. Ruth M. Cerny, 99, passed away at Wellington Place in Kingsport, TN on October 7, 2011.
Ruth was born in Racine to Frank and Mary (nee: Petura) Pishny on March 21, 1912. She lived in Racine for most of her life. In Racine, she was united in marriage to Edward F. Cerny on September 6, 1933.
Mrs. Cerny was a beautician for a short time and than worked with her husband as an operator for Edward F. Cerny Real Estate. The work she enjoyed the most was being a homemaker taking care of her family.
Mrs. Cerny was former member of St Paul's Lutheran Church of Racine. She was active there in the Senior Citizen's Group. She was a member of The Eastern Star - Worthy Matron.
Ruth is survived by her daughter, Mary Ann (Clifford) Peach; her grandchildren, Nathan A. James and Kirsten A. James; nieces, Betty Lizik, Carol Van Hammers, Sharon Jones and Joyce Simmons; nephew, Robert Pishny; and sister-in-law, Viola Pishny. She was preceded in death by her husband, Edward in 1970; her parents, Frank and Mary Pishny; brothers, Rueben, Edgar, and William Pishny; and sister, Lydia Pishny Hynek.
Funeral services were held at the Mound Cemetery Chapel. Entombment took place following the services. Memorials can be made to the Salvation Army, 125 Shelby Street, Kingsport, TN 37660 - (423) 247-8154.
