Ruth Theo Callewaert's Obituary
Ruth Theo Callewaert, 86, passed away on Sunday, June 11, 2017.
Ruth was born on May 28, 1931 to Theodore and Lydia (nee: Ehler) Welch in Chicago, IL. She was united in marriage to the love of her life, Frank Callewaert, on October 9, 1948 at St. Bonaventure’s in Sturtevant. Ruth was a member of St. Sebastian’s Catholic Church.
Ruth had a passion for reading. She enjoyed visiting her friends and family. Ruth was a Brownie leader for several years and taught CCD classes. She was a wonderful cook and baker, her blueberry and apple pies were very famous. Ruth enjoyed canning and freezing items from her garden. She had a great sense of humor, loved to tease, sing, and make up her own songs. Ruth was a tremendous Green Bay Packers fan and was a Packers stockholder, too. She liked to crochet and work on jigsaw and crossword puzzles. Most of all, Ruth loved to spend time with her loving family, who will dearly miss her.
Left to cherish her memory are her children: Ken (Darnell) Callewaert, Patricia Baclawski, and Susan Callewaert; granddaughters, Jennifer (Marty) Tilot, and Casmira (fiancé: Tommy Dougherty) Baclawski; great-grandchildren: Ryan and Taylor Tilot; sister, Shirley Yerzy; sisters-in-law, Laura Emmerling, Irma Sturicz, Mary (Bob) Waraxa, and Susan Callewaert. Ruth also leaves behind many loving nieces and nephews.
Ruth was preceded in death by her parents, Theodore and Lydia Welch; her loving husband, Frank; and her son, Chuck Callewaert.
A time of visitation will be held at St. Sebastian’s Catholic Church on June 17, 2017, from 10:00 AM until noon. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at noon with Fr. Javier Guativa officiating. Interment will be held at West Lawn Memorial Park.
The family would like to extend a special thank you to the staff of Ridgewood Care Facility for their loving care of Ruth.
