Ruth Brown's Obituary
Racine – Ruth E. Brown, 91, went home to be with her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ peacefully with her husband and son at her side on May 4, 2013.
Ruth was born in Racine to the late Malcolm J. and Irma I. (nee: LeMore) Gregory on March 3, 1922. She graduated from Washington Park High School, class of 1940. On May 3, 1952, she was united in marriage to William C. Brown at First Baptist Church in Racine.
Ruth was employed by S. C. Johnson for 10 years. It was evident that she loved her family and people. Much of the way she expressed her love was by writing and sending letters and cards to her relatives and friends. Ruth also enjoyed baked pies. Her favorite was strawberry, rhubarb pie which was grown from her garden.
Ruth, along with her husband, was an active member of Calvary Memorial Church. They also enjoyed traveling, especially to Door County in both Spring and Autumn. Ruth's hobbies were quilling, knitting and craft work. She really enjoyed counter cross stitching.
Ruth will be dearly missed by her husband of 61 years, William; her son, Michael (Jeanne) Brown; three grandchildren, Blake, Morgan and Bryce Brown; two special nieces, Lynn Sinclair and JoAnn Schwartz; and other relatives and friends. Ruth was preceded death by her brother and sister-in-law, Richard (Lillian) Gregory.
Funeral services in honor of Ruth will be held at Calvary Memorial Church, 4001 Washington Avenue, on Friday, May 10, 2013 at 11:00 AM with Pastor Nathan James officiating. Interment will follow at West Lawn Memorial Park. Relatives and friends may meet with the family at the Wilson Funeral Home on Thursday evening, May 9, 2013 from 6:00 PM until 8:00 PM and on Friday morning at the church from 10:00 AM until the 11:00 AM service time. Memorials may be directed to Calvary Memorial Church.
