Ruth Ann Obermeyer's Obituary
Ruth Ann was born the eldest twin daughter of Elmer and Evelyn (Peich) Lindh. Since multiple births were more perilous then, she received emergency baptism. However, she and her sister, Donna May, grew up and shared a special bond throughout their lives. Her childhood helped shape her views about the mother she wanted to be for her future family. After graduating from Park High School, she went to Prospect Hall Secretarial School where she learned skills such as shorthand that she would continue to use all of her life. Once she completed her training, she worked at Johnson Wax for more than 11 years, becoming executive secretary to the vice president of household products sales. After meeting her future husband, Barrett, at their 10-year high school class reunion, they were married in 1966 at Atonement Lutheran Church in Racine, WI and celebrated 59 years of marriage before his death. After retiring from Johnson Wax, Ruth Ann became the homemaker she had dreamed of. Once their children, Eric and Carolyn, started school, Ruth Ann took on the accounting and secretarial work for Barrett’s barrel business. In the later years after Barrett’s stroke, she became his care manager and also took over managing his business.
When she was younger, she enjoyed crocheting as well as sewing clothing and curtains. She also enjoyed watching decorating shows. She avidly read the newspaper for the latest and best practices and clipped articles to share with others. With the advent of the Internet, she enjoyed researching there as well. She loved spending time with her family and maintained lifelong friendships through her church, Christ Lutheran, and two clubs of friends—one from high school and one from work.
Ruth Ann is survived by her children Eric (Jenny) Obermeyer and Carolyn (Kwan) Thai and grandchildren Adam, May, Grace, and Kyra. She was preceded in death by her husband, her parents, and sister Donna May (Lindh) Skraboly.
