Roger Allan Therkelsen's Obituary
Racine - Roger Allan Therkelsen, age 78, passed away on Wednesday, November 12, 2025. Born on March 19, 1947, in Racine, Roger was the son of John Therkelsen and Virginia Dietel (née Scherman).
Roger proudly served his country in the Vietnam War from 1967 to 1968. Following his military service, he dedicated 42 years as a project engineer with Payne and Dolan, retiring in April of 2007.
On August 10, 1968, Roger married the love of his life, Sandy Mattie, in Racine. Together they shared a life filled with devotion, adventure, and countless memories. Roger had a passion for golfing, traveling, and taking road trips—always ready to explore a new place or revisit a favorite one. For many years, he and Sandy enjoyed spending their winters in Puerto Vallarta, Mexico, a place that brought them both warmth and joy.
Roger will be dearly missed by his wife, Sandy Therkelsen; his sons, Mark Therkelsen and Thomas (Cindi) Therkelsen; his grandson, Mateo Mascarette; his brother, John Therkelsen; his sister, Marcia (Danny) Post; and his mother, Virginia Dietel.
He was preceded in death by his father, John Therkelsen, and his sister-in-law, Helen.
Services for Roger will be held on Friday, November 21, 2025, at Wilson Funeral Home. Visitation will take place from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m., with a service to follow
