Robert Edward Funk
UNION GROVE--- Robert Edward Funk, 90, passed away peacefully at his home on July 1, 2015.
Robert was born in Racine on May 23, 1925 to William and Mary (nee: Mueller) Funk. He was united in marriage to Joanne Simonsen on October 6, 1951 at St. Patrick’s Catholic Church in Racine. Together they lived and worked the family farm in Union Grove.
Robert was a member of St. Sebastian’s Catholic Church for many years. He was a hardworking man, known for his generosity. He was a jokester, an avid hunter, and fisherman. Recently you would have found him overseeing the farm from his golf cart. Robert enjoyed travelling, often seeking adventures off the main road. Robert’s family was the center of his life. He enjoyed hosting family reunions and parties for his friends.
Robert will be dearly missed by his children, Nancy (Bob) Duthie, Carol Funk, Ronald (Denise) Funk, Bruce (Vicki) Funk, and Doug (Donna) Funk; his grandchildren, Robert, Clinton (Amanda), Katherine and Elaine Funk, Nicholas Howard, Casey and Joseph Funk, Ashley Oestreich, Tyler Kesy and Casandra Thew; his great-grandchildren, Bruce Douglas and Raymond Carl Funk, Ethan and Haiden Howard, and Emmalyn Oestreich; brothers and sisters, William Funk, Marie Guard, Ruth Field, Rose (Peter) Trecoci, Rita Barth, Leone Funk, and Lawrence Funk; and many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
Robert was preceded in death by his parents, William and Mary; his loving wife, Joanne Funk; brothers and sisters, Joseph (June) Funk, Theresa (James) Celeste, and Raymond Funk; and his in-laws, Mary Funk, Orland Guard, Donald Field, Wilfred Barth, Donna Funk, Donald (Esther) Simonsen, Joyce (John) Keen, Dean Simonsen, and Robert Simonsen.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at St. Sebastian’s Catholic Church on Monday, July 6, 2015 at 11:30 AM. Relatives and friends may meet with the family on Sunday, July 5, 2015 at Wilson Funeral Home from 4 PM- 7PM and again on Monday, July 6, 2015 from 11 AM until the time of service at 11:30 AM at the church.
