Richard "Ric" Frederick Mattie II's Obituary
Franksville - Richard Frederick Mattie II, 66, passed away peacefully at his home on September 14, 2015.
Ric was born in Racine to Richard F. and Elizabeth (nee: Henrickson) Mattie on August 4, 1949. He was united in marriage to Jan Honzelka in Racine on September 9, 1981. He was employed by the Racine Unified School District for 39 years as a painter and sign maker retiring unofficially in 2008.
Ric was in the first graduating class of J. I. Case High School in 1968 where he was on the swimming and diving team. Ric lived his life to the fullest through his many hobbies with his family and friends. He was an avid motorsports enthusiast, which included many kinds of racecars, boats, classic cars, motorcycles, ATVs, & snowmobiles. Ric enjoyed activities during all seasons including being a water-skier, downhill skier and a former ski instructor. He took pride in working with his hands through the house he built and projects he worked on. Ric was a former member of the Racine Drum and Bugle Corp., Racine Kilties, and the Fifth Street Yacht Club. He was also a lifetime member of the International and Racine HOG Chapter.
Ric will be dearly missed by his wife, Jan; two daughters, Sara (Nick) Hutchinson and Emilee Mattie; his father and step-mother, Dick (Bev) Mattie; one brother and four sisters, Gerie Larsen, Joe (Linda) Mattie, Konnie (Jeff) Clazmer, Miki Mattie and Darcy (Bill) Slaasted; God-daughter, Meradeth Mattie; and nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends. Ric was preceded in death by his mother, Elizabeth Gloria Mattie.
A memorial Celebration of Life in honor of Ric will be held at the Wilson Funeral Home on Wednesday afternoon, September 23, 2015 at 2:00 PM. Relatives and friends may meet with the family at the funeral home on Tuesday evening, September 22, 2015 from 4:00 PM until 8:00 PM and again on Wednesday afternoon from 1:00 PM until 2:00 PM. Private inurnment will occur at West Lawn Memorial Park at a later date. Memorials may be directed to the Cardiovascular Institute at Wheaton Franciscan, 3801 Spring Street.
