Richard Nels Nelsen
RACINE- Richard N. Nelsen, 96, passed away on Thursday, May 28, 2015 at The Villa at Lincoln Park in Racine.
Richard was born in Racine on February 14, 1919 to the late Carl and Katrina (Iversen) Nelsen. He lived in the Racine area for his entire life. On December 19, 1936, he was united in marriage to Margaret Jacobsen. She preceded him in death on June 9, 2012.
He worked in maintenance at Belle City Malleable for 38 years, retiring in 1979. Richard also farmed part-time. Richard was a devoted husband. After his retirement, he and Margaret enjoyed traveling the country in their motorhome and working in their garden.
Left to cherish his memory are his children, Donna (Kenneth) Barth, Richard Nelsen, and Randall (Judi) Nelsen; 12 grandchildren; 29 great grandchildren; and 19 great-great grandchildren.
In addition to his wife, he was preceded in death by his parents, 4 sisters, 2 brothers, and daughter-in-law, Janice Nelsen.
A Communion Service will be held on Saturday, June 6, 2015 at St. Louis Catholic Church (13207 Hwy G, Caledonia) at 11:00 a.m. A visitation will take place at the church from 10:00 a.m. until the time of the service. Interment will take place at Caledonia Memorial Cemetery.
