Richard D. Griffith (Cabbage)'s Obituary
STURVEVANT- Richard Dee Griffith, age 76, passed away peacefully on Sunday, February 19, 2017, at Ascension All-Saints Hospital surrounded by his family.
He was born in Syracuse, NY on April 29, 1940 to George and Maryemma (nee Leaham) Griffith. Rich was united in marriage on May 24, 1975 to Mathilda “Tillie” Hansen in Tully, NY. Rich was a hardworking man. He was employed by Borzynski’s Farms and worked many other jobs from truck driving to maintenance work. He was a talented handyman and was always busy working.
Rich was known for his love of NASCAR. He was very generous with his time and talents and was willing to lend a hand to anyone in need. His family and friends were a priority in his life. He enjoyed driving back to NY to spend time with his children.
Rich will be sadly missed by his wife, Tillie; sons, Danny (Pam) Griffith, David Griffith and Tim Gleason; daughter, Kelley (Rick) Amos; grandchildren: Nicholle, Darryl, and Nicholas Griffith, Kristin, Mike, and Amanda Gleason, Alicia and Alex Amos, and Jenny Thom, 6 great grandchildren, other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by two sons, Dale Griffith and Michael Gleason; great grandson, Axel Amos; brother, Robert Griffith; and sister, Cathy Armani.
A memorial celebration of Rich’s life will be held at Calvary Baptist Church, 9122 Durand Avenue, Sturtevant, on Friday, February 24, 2017 at 11:00 a.m. with Pastor Richard Rogers officiating.
