Raymond "Ray" Lewis Dotson Sr.'s Obituary
Racine - Raymond “Ray” Lewis Dotson Sr., 64, was called to rest by the Lord on Friday, February 7, 2025, after a long battle with health issues. He was born on March 9, 1960, in Chicago, IL, to James Walter and Mary Louise (nee Lee) Dotson. After his parents separated, the family briefly lived in Lockport, IL, and then moved to Mobile, AL. Seeking a new chapter, Mary relocated the family to Racine, WI, where Ray would grow up.
Raymond received his education in Racine, where he graduated from Horlick High School. Known for his passion for cooking, he pursued a career as a chef in various restaurants across Madison and Racine. Later in life, after the birth of his son, Little Ray, he transitioned to carpentry, a trade he took pride in for many years. In the years that followed, he welcomed two daughters into his family, expanding his legacy.
A proud and loving son, brother, and father, Ray was also the life of the party. He was known for his sense of humor, his love of fishing, and his deep appreciation for music, particularly Al Green.
Raymond leaves to cherish his memories, his devoted son, Raymond Lewis Dotson Jr. (Sharon); daughters: LaShunda and Jademarie Autrey Dotson. He will be dearly missed by his grandchildren: Luis Estrada, Aidan Torres, Wyshawn Holley, and Khamayia Dotson. His memory will also be cherished by his siblings: Lester (Sylvia) Dotson, Theresa (Travis) Klyce, Rhonda Ruffin, and Robert Ruffin, along with many nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
He was preceded in death by his mother, Mary Louise, and siblings Darrle and Jane Ruffin. He is also reunited in heaven with his uncles: James Davis, Henry Lee, and Jack High, as well as his aunts: Zenobia Davis and Juanita High.
A celebration of Raymond’s life will be held at Wilson Funeral Home on Saturday, February 22, 2025, at 12:00 PM. Relatives and friends may meet with the family at the funeral home on Saturday from 10:00 AM until the time of service.
