Oak Creek – Mrs. Priscilla A. Krogh (nee: Vammen), 91, passed away at Mitchell Manor Assisted Living in Oak Creek on February 18, 2012.
Priscilla was born in Osakis, MN to the late Reverend Christian A. and Tomina (nee: Neve) Vammen on August 29, 1920. She moved with her family in 1924 to the Indian Mission in Oaks, OK in 1926. Priscilla graduated with a teaching degree from Northeastern Oklahoma State College in 1943. She was married to Jack W. Krogh on June 15, 1949 and moved to Racine. She moved to Oak Creek in 2005.
Priscilla was a member of Gethsemane Lutheran Church where she participated in church choir, circle and taught Sunday School. She was a teacher in the Racine Public School System and taught elementary and special education classes. She retired in 1990. Priscilla had a challenging life yet kept a very positive attitude. She was quiet and patient and took pride in her home and family. She enjoyed sewing and crafts, but especially enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren.
Priscilla is survived by her two daughters, Julianne (Mark) Ohlert of New Berlin and Carolyn (Ted "Bill") Miller of Racine; three grandchildren, Cara Cribari, Janet Ohlert and Tim Ohlert; one brother, Dr. Reuel (Lynne) Vammen of Texarkana, TX; two sisters, Ardis (Richard) Jacobson of Nashville, TN and Dorcas (Forrest "Red") Leighton of Columbia, MO; many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her husband Jack on August 30, 1995; two brothers, Dr. Adolph (Hazel) Vammen and Dr. Warren (Juanita) Vammen; and one sister, Alta (Frederic) Whitaker.
Funeral services will be held at Gethsemane Lutheran Church, 3319 Washington Avenue, on Monday, February 27, 2012 at 6:30 pm with Pastor Carolyn Fredriksen officiating. Relatives and friends may meet with the family at the church prior to the service on Monday from 4 until 6:30 pm. Interment will be held at Graceland Cemetery on Tuesday, February 28, 2012 at 10 am. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to Gethsemane Lutheran Church or to Oaks Indian Mission, P.O. Box 130, Oaks, OK - 74359-0130.
