Phyllis Louise Wells' Obituary
Mount Pleasant - Phyllis L. Wells (nee Kidd), 85, passed away at the Villa at Lincoln Park on Sunday, November 19, 2017.
Phyllis was born to the late Phillip and Louise Kidd on February 12, 1932 in Chicago, IL. There she was united in marriage to her high school sweetheart, Clyde Mathew Wells, Jr., on July 12, 1952. He preceded her in death on October 2, 2015.
Phyllis enjoyed her career as a teacher of art and music in the Chicago area, even teaching at her children’s school, Melzer Elementary in Morton Grove. Phyllis was also the piano teacher for most of the neighborhood children on Lyons Street.
Phyllis loved to sing and was a member of the church choir her whole life. She loved to ski and learned that passion early from her father. She was an involved member of the Snow Seekers ski club. Phyllis loved to learn new things and get involved in new adventures. She had always enjoyed camping, bicycling and travel, but discovered canoeing and kayaking in her forties, becoming a member of the Prairie State Canoe Club and having yet found another passion and making many new friends along the way.
Phyllis will be dearly missed by her children, Bill (Laura) Wells and Amy (Scott) Petersen; grandchildren: Chloe, Brian and Christopher Wells, Ashlee Harlib Tumlinson, Daniel (Ashley) and Dakota Harlib, Michael and David Petersen; great grandchildren: Rishka Tumlinson, Sophia and Jacen Harlib and Danny and Angel Diaz; brother Phillip (Linda) Kidd, Jr., nieces Shirley and Deanna and nephew, Taylor.
A celebration of Phyllis’ life will be held at Mt. Pleasant Lutheran Church (1700 S. Green Bay Road) on Wednesday, December 27, 2017, beginning at 4:30 p.m. A Memorial Ceremony will begin at 6:00 p.m. with Pastor Bill Mains officiating. Private inurnment will take place at Southern Wisconsin Veterans Memorial Cemetery.
