Peter F. Tillema Sr.
MOUNT PLEASANT--- Peter F. Tillema Sr., 79, passed away Tuesday, May 12, 2015.
Peter was born in Milwaukee, Wisconsin on January 18, 1936 to Ralph and Kathryn (nee: Oium) Tillema.
Peter was a dedicated member of Christ Community Church of Zion, Illinois. He was involved in the community and gave freely to numerous causes. Peter was also a member of the Organ Club and played a big role in UW Parkside’s video & audio department helping with various concerts and shows. Additionally, he was a member of Ham Radio; call sign, WA9KFL, and enjoyed traveling, coffee, food, and participating in outings with his friends. Most importantly he always was there for family and friends in need.
A veteran of the United States Air Force, Peter was also a member of the Air National Guard. He also had a fulfilling career at Wisconsin Electric Power Co. until he then retired in 1995.
Survivors include, trusted confidant and longtime friend, Dolores Laake; children, Judy Gabower, Peter (Lori) Tillema, David Tillema, Peggy (Chad) Russell; 7 grandchildren, 3 great grandchildren; sister, Kathryn Elizabeth Sweeney; niece, Laura Watson; close friends, Gail & Warner Slaughter. He will be deeply missed by many family and friends.
He was preceded in death by his brother, Jon “Dirk” Tillema.
Funeral services for Peter will be held on Thursday, May 14, 2015 at 1:00 p.m. at Wilson Funeral Home in Racine. Family and friends may meet with the family starting at 11:00 a.m. until the time of service. A committal service will take place immediately following the service at, West Lawn Memorial Park Chapel.
The family would like to extend a heartfelt thanks to Gail and Warner for the years of their friendship and support.
