Perl Runge's Obituary
Racine - Mrs. Perl Elizabeth Runge (nee Killips), 90, passed away at Ridgewood Care Center on Saturday morning, October 28, 2006.
Perl was born in Racine to the late Emerson and Hilda (nee: Mross) Killips on August 18, 1916. She had lived in Racine all her life. In Racine, at Our Savior's Lutheran Church, she was united in marriage to Irving C. Runge on June 15, 1946. He had preceded her in death on February 20, 1986.
Mrs. Runge was an active member of Our Savior's Lutheran Church teaching Sunday school and working on the Altar Guild. She was involved with the PTA and the Girl Scouts at Wadewitz Elementary. Mrs. Runge was employed at Western Printing in the bindery before World War II. During the war, she worked as a riveter on Mitchell Bombers at the Case Co. After the war, she embraced the role of a homemaker. She was completely giving of herself especially to her family and her grandchildren who were always in her mind and heart. She had a passion for nature, animals, and flowers. She enjoyed playing the violin and piccolo, spent a lot of time baking wonderful breads and desserts, and sewing and knitting for her family and community. She will be sadly missed.
Perl is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Suzanne (Joel) Wellhoefer of Racine; two grandsons, Erik and Mark; and nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. She was also preceded in death by two brothers, Eugene Killips in 1944 during WWII in the Battle of the Bulge and Melvin Killips in August 2006; three sisters and brothers-in-law, Lucille (Philip) Kohl, Mildred (Fred) Clark, and Elinor Lange in November 2005 and her husband Richard.
