Penny Ann Zaden's Obituary
Mount Pleasant - Penny Ann Zaden (nee Hamacher), age 85, passed away peacefully on Monday, September 23, 2024, with her beloved family by her side at The Gardens of Mount Pleasant.
Penny was born on February 27, 1939, in Racine to Warren and Mary (nee Drummond) Hamacher. Penny's life was a tapestry of love, laughter, and cherished memories.
In June 1994, she was united in marriage to James O. Zaden in Las Vegas, creating a partnership filled with joy until his passing on August 1, 2015.
At a young age, Penny was active with her parents in the kitchen at the Moose Club, a place that sparked her lifelong love of friendship and connection. Her early employment as a bartender showcased her vibrant personality. She started her career at Warren Industries leaving as a plant manager in 1995, to work at Iris USA as a quality control manager. Penny retired at the age of 65 in 2004.
Penny was a former member of Atonement Lutheran Church. She was an avid bowler, always enjoying friendly competition. She had a passion for playing slot machines at various casinos. Her loyalty as a Green Bay Packers and Wisconsin Badgers fan made every football game day a celebration. Recently, she found joy in playing bingo and engaging in crafts. Her greatest joy came from family and friend gatherings, where she truly was the "Life of the Party."
Known for her kindness and caring nature, Penny had a remarkable ability to make friends wherever she went. Penny’s warmth and spirit left an indelible mark on everyone who knew her. Her laughter and love will be deeply missed by her family and all who had the pleasure of knowing her.
Penny will be lovingly remembered by her children, Keven (Cheryl) Winters and John A. (Jill) Winters; grandchildren, Julie (Mike) Anchondo, Stephanie (Nick) Sexauer, Brayanne (Mike) Hagensick, and John Elliot (Kaitie) Winters; great-grandchildren, Ramiro, Hailey, Bradley, Carter, and Kenadee; and many nieces, nephews, other relatives, and many friends.
Penny was also preceded in death by her parents, Warren and Mary Hamacher; siblings, Billie Marie (Robert) Cote, Marilyn (Rodney) Fuller, William “Skip” (Pat) Hansen, and Bonnie Susan Gondert.
Per Penny’s wishes, she has been cremated. A private family inurnment will be held at Southern Wisconsin Veterans Memorial Cemetery with her husband, James.
Family and friends are warmly invited to a Green and Gold Celebration of Life honoring Penny on Sunday, November 17, 2024, during the Green Bay Packers vs. Chicago Bears game at Buckets 2nd Round, 2301 Lathrop Avenue, Racine, WI 53405, from 11:00 AM to 3:00 PM.
In true spirit of celebration, the family encourages everyone to wear their favorite Green Bay Packers attire. Let’s come together to share memories, enjoy good company, and honor a beloved life during this cherished game.
