Peggy Ann Hilgers' Obituary
Sturtevant – Peggy Ann Hilgers, 57, passed away after battling ALS - Lou Gehrig's disease at Wheaton Franciscan Healthcare – All Saints on Sunday, December 30, 2012.
Peggy Ann was born in Racine to George and Ada (nee: Wagner) Sattler on March 8, 1955. She lived in Racine all of her life. She was united in marriage to Kenneth Joseph Hilgers on May 25, 1991 at Our Savior's Lutheran Church in Racine.
Peggy was a Certified Nursing Assistant and worked with the elderly in nursing homes in her younger years. When her son Jason was born, she nobly stayed home to take care of her family.
Peggy was a member of Atonement Lutheran Church. In Recent years, she enjoyed attending Lincoln Lutheran of Racine-Harmony Club with her mother, Ada. Throughout her life, she was fond of camping and listening to music of her era; her favorites were the Beach Boys, Kenny Rogers and the Bee Gees. Ken and Peggy traveled many times out of state for car shows in their "Hot Rod" a 1932 Ford. Peggy loved making crafts, arranging flowers, gardening and watching the butterflies. She also enjoyed a special friendship with Angel, her beloved cocker spaniel for over 14 years.
Peggy will be deeply missed by her loving, caring, devoted husband and caregiver, Ken Hilgers, son, Jason Joseph Hilgers; mother, Ada Sattler; sisters, Pamela (Kevin) Ehnert and Bonnie (Tim) Ebben; and brother, David Sattler all of Racine. She is also survived by her sister-in-law, Karen of Ohio; Ken's aunt and uncle, Mae and Herman Hilgers of Racine; special friend, Kathy Blomberg also of Racine; and nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Peggy was preceded in death by her father, George Sattler; Ken's parents, Joe and Rose Hilgers; and many aunts and uncles.
A candlelight memorial funeral service in memory of Peggy Ann will be held at Atonement Lutheran Church, 2915 Wright Avenue, on Monday, January 7, 2013 at 6:00 pm with Rev. Dana O'Brien officiating. Per her wishes, Peggy will be cremated and a private inurnment will be held in the spring. Relatives and friends may meet with the family at the church from 4:00 pm until 6:00 pm service time.
