Pearl J. Poulsen's Obituary
MOUNT PLEASANT- Pearl Johanna Poulsen, age 99, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, February 28, 2017 at The Villas at Lincoln Park.
On February 20, 1918, Pearl was born to the late Christen Henrik Olesen Krogh and Thyra (nee Lenestrand) Krogh in Racine, WI. She was united in marriage to Roy K. Poulsen on September 1, 1944 in Racine.
Pearl was a member of Gethsemane Evangelical Lutheran Church, where she enjoyed attending services and singing hymns. She enjoyed playing all sorts of games with friends and family. Pearl was known for her delicious butter and chocolate chip cookies. She was a caring woman and a wonderful mother and grandmother. Pearl had a lovely, huge smile which she freely shared with everyone.
Left to cherish her memory are her two daughters and son-in-law: Kathleen and John Gray of Waukesha, WI, and Marsha Poulsen of Racine, WI; a son and daughter-in-law, Sherman and Jeanette Poulsen of Ramona, CA; two granddaughters: Erica (Mark) Lange of Phoenix, AZ and Erin (Robert) Crawford of Waukesha, WI; six great-grandchildren: Ryan, Kevin and Keegan Lange and Logan, Skylar and Paige Crawford; her brother-in-law and sister-in-law Ralph and Delores Miller of Racine, WI, and nieces, nephews, and friends.
Pearl was preceded in death by her husband, Roy Poulsen; her daughter, Jocelyn; her four sisters: Verna (Lyle) Hanson, Opal (Harold) Vogelman, Elizabeth (Bill) Barner and Naomi Krogh; four brothers: Curtis (Agnes), Jack (Priscilla), Roman and Sherman Krogh.
A celebration of Pearl’s life will be held on Sunday, March 5, 2017 at 3:00 p.m. at Wilson Funeral Home with Rev. Steve Clingman officiating. A time of visitation will be held on Sunday from 2:00 p.m. until the time of the service. Interment will be held at Graceland Cemetery on Monday, March 6, 2017 at 9:00 a.m. Memorials may be made in Pearl’s name to the American Cancer Society or to the American Diabetes Association.
