Pauline Hoefert's Obituary
Pauline Hoefert, 89, passed away peacefully at Lincoln Village Convalescent Center on October 30, 2012.
Pauline was born in Sayebrook, IL to the late George L. "Roy" and Elizabeth (nee: Hale) Spidle on September 13, 1923. She was the eldest to two daughters. In 1951, Pauline was united in marriage to Virgil L. Hoefert. She lived in Racine for most of her life. Pauline joined in the ranks of women working as "Rosie the Riveter" during World War II at Walker Manufacturing and Oster's. Following marriage, she became a fulltime homemaker. Pauline spent many hours volunteering at Lincoln Lutheran Home for many years caring for others and brightening their days. She treasured time spent with her family and loved caring for her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. She especially enjoyed cheering them on in all of their endeavors. She also enjoyed bowling, designing and creating beautiful handmade Christmas ornaments, watching TV and became an expert at doing "Search-A-Word" puzzles. Pauline loved her big beautiful backyard garden and spent many hours lovingly tending to her flowers. Pauline was an excellent cook. Her special jello salad was always a hit at gatherings with family and friends. Pauline will be remembered as a wonderful homemaker. Pauline was a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, daughter, sister, aunt, niece, mother-in-law and friend to everyone she met.
She will be dearly missed by her children, Pamela (Robert) Van Nostrand of Naples, FL and Lana (Donald) Swift of Meadow Vista, CA; daughter-in-law, Kathi Hoefert; grandchildren, Todd Strausser of Racine, Chad Strausser of Aurora, CO, Christopher and Peter Swift of Meadow Vista, CA and Brooke Hoefert of Racine; great grandchildren, Jennifer, Ashley, Ryan and Tyler Strausser; great great grandchild, Zayden Jackson; special niece, Victoria Bushman; nephews, Douglas (Vicki) Lock, Randall (Pat) Lock and Ronald "Scott" Lock and special neighbor and friend, Evelyn Shellberg. She was preceded in death by her husband, Vigil L. Hoefert on July 14, 2005; one son, Richard L. Hoefert on September 15, 2006; and her sister, Betty Lock on July 14, 2009.
Funeral services will be held at Atonement Lutheran Church, 2915 Wright Avenue, on Monday afternoon, November 5, 2012 at 1 pm with Rev. Dr. Warren Williams officiating. Interment will follow at West Lawn Memorial Park. Relatives and friends may meet with the family at the Wilson Funeral Home on Sunday night, November 4, 2012 from 7 pm until 8:30 pm and at the church on Monday afternoon from 12 pm until 1 pm service time.
