Norma Yelinek's Obituary
Norma, 76, passed away at Harmony Living Center, on Thursday morning, Aug. 24, 2006. She was born in LaPorte, IN. on Aug. 5, 1930 to Gustav and Dorothy (nee: Preston) Yelinek. She has been a resident of Racine since 1952.
Norma graduated from LaPorte High School, where she played in the band and orchestra, later she played with the Michigan City Symphony for several years. She was employed at Walker Manufacturing in the finance department for many years, retiring on June 1, 1986 as a tax analyst.
She was a member of First United Methodist Church. She was an avid gardener. In 1994 she was an exhibitor on the Racine Garden Club Walk. Norma volunteered for the Racine Literacy Program where she taught reading.
She is survived by her mother; Mrs. Dorothy Yelinek of Racine, special friends, Bill and Elaine, and Carol.
Her father, Gustav Yelinek on Dec. 13, 1967, preceded her in death.
Funeral services will be held at the Wilson Funeral Home 1212 Lathrop Ave., on Monday, Aug. 28, 2006 at 11 a.m. with Rev. Brad Van Fossen officiating. Interment will follow at West Lawn Memorial Park. Friends may meet with the family at the funeral home from 10 a.m. until the time of service.
Memorials in memory of Norma to First United Methodist Church or Hospice Alliance have been suggested.
