Nicolet "Nicki" N. Vakos' Obituary
Racine - Nicolet “Nicki” N. Vakos, 78, went home to her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ on February 2, 2024, from Saint Monica’s Senior Living.
Nicki was born to Nicolas and Cecilia (nee Bauer) Vakos on April 15, 1945, and had lived in Racine all her life. She graduated from Washington Park High School, class of 1963. Nicki was employed by Young Radiator for 16 years as an administrative assistant, retiring in 1982. She spent the last eight years in the wonderful care of Saint Monica’s Senior Living.
Nicki appreciated volunteering for the Good News Club, a ministry of Child Evangelism Fellowship®. She valued staying connected with many friends and ministries using her own patented “Nicki Notes” which everyone enjoyed. Most importantly, Nicki was committed to her faith in the Lord and was a faithful member of Racine Bible Church.
Nicki was an avid reader, using the Racine Library as her source for books. She especially enjoyed reading Christian novels and mysteries. She also enjoyed quiet times doing word search. In her younger years, Nicki enjoyed traveling to visit friends in Florida, Hawaii, and other areas within the States.
Nicki will be dearly missed by her long-time friends: Carol Berry, Barb Kivisto, and Rick (Ann) Moffet; Dan and Sue Cabush, her care takers for 26 years; her church family: and many other friends. She was preceded in death by her parents, Nicolas and Cecilia Vakos.
A celebration of Nicki’s life will be held at Racine Bible Church, 12505 Spring Street, Sturtevant, WI 53177, beginning with a short visitation at 11:00 AM until the time of the funeral ceremony at 11:30 AM with Pastor Spencer DeBurgh officiating. Nicki will be privately interred at Graceland Cemetery. Memorials to Racine Bible Church Missionary Fund have been suggested.
A special thank you to staff at both Saint Monica’s Senior Living and St. Croix Hospice for their kind and compassionate care of Nicki.
