Nancy Hernandez Reyes' Obituary
Mount Pleasant – Nancy Hernandez Reyes, 80, passed away at Ascension All Saints Hospital on January 18, 2023.
Nancy was born in Hughes, Arkansas to Angel Ruiz Reyes and Anastasia Hernandez on January 13, 1943.
Nancy was employed by many manufacturing companies but was most proud to work for Shepherd Plating Company. She retired in 1976. She was smart with computers, being able to break down and rebuild them. Nancy was a good cook especially with Mexican cuisine. She new how to make the best Mexican rice, refried beans, and tortillas that would melt in your mouth. Nancy appreciated music and old black and white TV shows, both during the 60’s and 70’s era. She enjoyed shopping with her twin sister, Elena.
Nancy will be lovingly remembered by her children: Rosanna Reyes and David Reyes; grandsons: Antonio Sabala and Aaron Nelson; siblings: twin sister, Elena Wright, Onebre Reyes, Raymond Reyes, Eva (Raul) Zagal, and Ruben Layton; and numerous nieces, nephews, and other relatives.
Nancy was preceded in death by her parents, Angel Ruiz Reyes and Anastasia Hernandez; infant siblings: Angelita, Julio, and Domingo Reyes; and siblings: Ascension “Sam”, John, and Carmen Reyes, Sara Montes, and Mary Keenan; and nephews: Rogelio “Rocky” Ramos, son of Sara, and Gregory Anderson, son of Carmen.
A celebration of Nancy’s life will be held at the Wilson Funeral Home beginning with a visitation on Wednesday evening, January 25, 2023, from 5:00 pm until 7:30 pm. Visitation will continue at the funeral home on Thursday morning, January 26, 2023, from 9:00 am until the time of service at 11:30 am. A service of committal will take place at Holy Cross Cemetery chapel – Hwy 32. Interment will ensue at Holy Family Cemetery on Hwy 31.
