Myrna Geraldine DeCamp's Obituary
Racine – Myrna Geraldine DeCamp, 85, passed away peacefully at her residence on February 16, 2025.
Myrna was born on the family farm in Raymond, WI on February 28, 1938, to Gordon and Mabel (nee Larsen) Peterson. On August 20, 1966, at North Cape Lutheran Church, she was united in marriage to James Edward DeCamp.
Myrna was a faithful member of the Lutheran Church of the Resurrection. She was a passionate educator, dedicating her life to teaching and inspiring generations of students with her kindness and love of children. She also found immense joy working on the family farm which has been owned by three generations for over 150 years. At the farm, Myrna enjoyed nurturing her beloved gardens, loving and caring for the animals, embracing the beauty of nature and the fresh air. She also enjoyed sewing for family and friends.
Myrna leaves behind her devoted husband, James DeCamp; brother-in-law, Nolan DeCamp.
Myrna was preceded in death by her parents, Gordon and Mabel DeCamp; brother, Lyle Peterson; sister-in-law, Renee DeCamp, and Donald DeCamp.
A celebration of Myrna’s life will be held at Wilson Funeral Home on Tuesday, February 25, 2025, beginning with a visitation at 10:00 a.m. until a ceremony at 11:30 a.m. with Rev. John Anderson officiating. A committal service will follow in the chapel at West Lawn Memorial Park.
In honor of Myrna’s lifelong passion for agriculture and community service, the family kindly requests that all memorials be made to the Tucker 4-H Club, 1072 Milwaukee Avenue, Burlington, WI 53105. These donations will help support future generations of young farmers and leaders.
The family extends their deepest gratitude to Dr. Muhammad Hossain and his staff, and the staff at both Horizon Hospice Care and Home Instead for their compassionate care and unwavering support of Myrna and her husband.
Myrna’s memory will continue to bloom in every flower she planted, every life she touched, and every heart that carries her legacy forward. Her warmth, generosity, and love for her community will forever remain in the hearts of those who knew her.
