Michael John Boomsma's Obituary
Milwaukee- Michael J. Boomsma, 46, passed away at his home on Monday, July 15, 2013 from complications of a stroke. He is now at home with his Lord. His family misses him dearly. His father, mother, sons, sister, brother-in-law, and nephews loved him like no one can, except God through his Son, Jesus Christ. Goodbye Mike- "See you soon."
Michael had an endearing, likable personality and had many dear friends, especially Steve Dodridge, who stood by him day by day. Mike loved the outdoors, and enjoyed camping and everything to do with nature. In his younger days, his adventurous spirit led him to explore Central America. He was a talented photographer and many of his pictures are displayed in the homes of his loved ones. Mike also played the piano and was excited to be able to return to playing after his stroke.
Michael was born in Racine to John and Dolores Boomsma on October 1, 1966. He had earned his Bachelor of Arts in Journalism at the University of Wisconsin- Eau Claire and had been employed as an engineer for Johnson Controls until he was disabled. He was also in the U.S. Army Reserves where, he served eight years as a Combat Engineer. He loved his former wife, Helen in a way only he could understand and his love was exceptionally strong for his three young sons.
Mike will be dearly missed by his parents, John and Dolores; former wife, Helen Boomsma; sons, Charile, Sam and Jack Boomsma; sister, Rachel (August) Barnet; nephews, Ethan and Liam Barnet; and an extended loving family and dear friends. He has been reunited with his sister, Elizabeth Boomsma and infant daughter, Marie.
Funeral services in honor of Michael will be held at Racine Bible Church (12505 Spring St.) on Saturday, July 20, 2013 at 9:00am. Interment with full military honors will follow at Graceland Cemetery. Relatives and friends are invited to meet the family at church on Saturday from 8:00am until the time of service.
