Mavis Jean Sanders' Obituary
Caledonia, Mavis Jean (nee Anderson) Sanders, 88, passed away at her home in Parkview Senior-Living Community lll on Sunday, July 21, 2024.
Mavis was born in Racine, WI, on January 19, 1936, to Robert O. and Anna May (nee Brant) Anderson. She married John R. Sanders on September 7, 1957, at St. Rita's Catholic Church in Caledonia, WI, who preceded her in death on October 18, 1966. Mavis was employed at J.I. Case for several years before retiring in 1986. She was a member of St. Rita's Catholic Church.
In her leisure time, Mavis immersed herself in the simple pleasures of life. She delighted in nurturing her flower and vegetable gardens, finding deep satisfaction in preserving the bounty through canning. Her green thumb and dedication to her garden were sources of great pride and fulfillment. Cooking was another passion, and she enjoyed experimenting with new recipes to share with family and friends. An avid shopper and collector, Mavis possessed a discerning eye for finding unique treasures that added richness to her life.
Mavis is survived by her children: Scott (Kristin) Sanders and Jay Sanders (Debbie W.); grandchildren: Erin (Brett) Basley, Kristin (Scott) Gates and Jack Sanders; four great-grandchildren; brother, Bob (Jean) Anderson; and many nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends. She was also preceded in death by her parents, Robert and Anna May Anderson; in-laws, Edward and Verna Sanders; and longtime companion, Albert Kirschling.
Per Mavis' wishes, she was cremated, honoring her desire for simplicity and quiet reflection. In accordance with her requests, no formal services will be conducted. Instead, her life will be cherished, and her memory celebrated by those who knew and loved her. Mavis will be remembered for her warmth, her zest for life, and the countless ways she touched the hearts of her family and friends.
The family wishes to express a special thank you to her caregiver Mary D. and nurse Deb, as well as the associates at Allay Home Hospice, for their kind and compassionate care.
